Welcome to the College & Career Center
-
The Arcadia High School College & Career Center provides services to our students as they plan for "13th grade." We offer support for college admissions (four-year and community college), financial aid, military paths and trade school through topical workshops, individual advising, meetings with college representatives, field trips and more. Our primary vehicle for making announcements and sharing information with students is a set of Google Classrooms for each cohort and for special topics (such as Scholarships, First-Generation College, and Arizona Public Universities). Parents, please encourage your students to join their cohort classroom! We communicate with parents primarily through ParentSquare.

Announcements
-
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid has been plagued with problems this year. Many of them have now been ironed out but two big issues remain. (1) Parents without social security #s cannot (yet) file electronically, and (2) applications already submitted cannot (yet) be corrected. AHS families having any difficulties at all with FAFSA are encouraged to reach out to us via email, ArcadiaCollegeandCareer@susd.org. Please check our FAFSA FAQ's and tips first.
Standardized Testing
-
The role of standardized testing in college admissions has changed radically since Arcadia parents (including your college-advising team) were in high school! Parents, forget everything you think you know.
As you and your child start forming a testing strategy, please read this article by Brennan Barnard, a leading voice on college admissions. We think this is the single most helpful guide out there today.
Juniors and parents, please review the recent post on ParentSquare from Dr. Danskey regarding preparation for the upcoming in-school ACT (April 2).

Spring 2024 College Visits
-
In Spring 2024 we will host admissions counselors from many colleges and universities. Their presentations give our students a friendly, intimate setting in which to learn about individual colleges and ask questions of the admissions counselors. All ages are welcome but we especially encourage juniors to attend as many as possible to help them learn about the criteria that matter to them! Students may request a visit from a specific college by using the form they'll find in the "College Visits" section of their CCC Google Classroom. The college advisors will personally invite representatives of requested schools to Arcadia.
