Baseball
6A: The Chaparral Firebirds bowed out of post-season play with back-to-back losses to #1 Hamilton on May 13 and 14. Hamilton went on to take the state title three days later, downing #6 Chandler. Chaparral finished its impressive run to the state tournament with a record of 14-9.
Girls Tennis
Division I: Following its shutout of #4 Chaparral the day before, #1 Desert Mountain successfully defended its state team title on May 7. Up 4-2 over #2 Xavier after singles matches, the dynamic duo of Chae Rin Young and Reese Schibel provided the final win to give the Wolves the state championship. Congratulations, girls, and Coach Kim Dever!
Division II: #3 Arcadia knocked off #2 Notre Dame in the semifinals, but fell short against #1 Catalina Foothills on May 7, losing 2-5 to defending state title holders, #1 Catalina Foothills. The day was not without its highlights, however, as newly minted state singles title holder Vessa Turley defeated the #1 player in the state for the second time last week. Boys Tennis
Division 1: #2 Chaparral, owners of a semifinal win over #6 Mountain Ridge the day before, was outmanned in the May 7 state championship, falling 0-5 to #1 Brophy.
Baseball
6A: Undefeated #8 Chaparral faces #1 Hamilton for a second time in post-season play in the Pool A final on May 13 at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa.

Softball
With Desert Mountain’s 9-7 loss May 3 to Canyon View, the Wolves move into the losers bracket and travel to Cactus Shadows May 5 to take on the Falcons.
Baseball
4A: Saguaro’s season ended May 4 with an 11-1 loss to Mesquite. The Sabercats were 14-8 overall, including post-season play.
5A: Desert Mountain is away to Canyon View May 5, having fallen to #1 Nogales, 5-1 on May 2.
6A: Chaparral pulled the upset May 3 shutting out #1 Hamilton 5-0. Next up: #5 Queen Creek, May 7, at Tempe Diablo Stadium.
Girls Tennis
Division I: Defending champs Desert Mountain are the home team May 6 at Scottsdale Ranch Park when they will host district-rival Chaparral in the semifinals of the state team championship.
Division II: #3 Arcadia faces a May 6 matchup at the Paseo Racquet Club in Glendale against #2 Notre Dame Prep, also in the semifinals of the state team tournament.
Boys Tennis
Division I: Chaparral hosts Mountain Ridge May 6 at Scottsdale Ranch Park in the semifinals of the state team tournament. Desert Mountain fell to Mountain Ridge 5-3 on May 4.
