SUSD’s Fall/Winter Showcase Magazine Shared

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Sept. 9, 2020) – Hot off the press, the latest edition of Showcase magazine began arriving recently in the mailboxes of Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) families and employees. The in-house SUSD publication, produced twice yearly, highlights noteworthy District events, programs and alumni.

The Fall/Winter 2020 edition of Showcase features a report on the bond construction projects that were completed during the past summer and includes an in-depth look at the now-completed Navajo Elementary School renovation project. Navajo has been closed since an August 2018 fire. There is also information about SUSD’s Return to Learn plan for the new school year and a letter of greeting from Superintendent Scott Menzel.

In the new issue of Showcase, readers can find out about the voluntary, rigorous National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification that nearly 90 current SUSD educators have acquired on their own time, among them Laguna Elementary fourth grade teacher Abbey Bobbett, who is featured on the magazine’s cover.

The latest edition provides the SUSD community with an opportunity to catch up on the careers of two, notable alumnae, Chaparral High School’s Danielle Lerner, an anchor/reporter for local ABC network affiliate KNXV-TV, and Desert Mountain High School’s Nicole Suerez, a California-based filmmaker and clothing designer. In the articles, the women relate how their SUSD experiences prepared them for their professions and for the challenges of life, in general.

The fall edition also highlights the District’s Excellence Recognition Coin program, created to recognize outstanding achievements by students, teachers and staff.
