Self-Insurance Trust Board

The purpose of the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) Self-Insurance Trust Board is to provide for the establishment of a self-insured program and/or insurance programs by the District to cover property insurance, liability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance as well as employee medical, dental, disability and/or life insurance programs. 

Pursuant to ARS 15-382.C and the Board approved Self-Insurance Trust Document, the Governing Board may appoint at least five Trustees to administer the Self-Insurance Trust.  No more than one Trustee may be a Governing Board member and no more than one may be a SUSD employee.  The Self-Insurance Trust Board will be comprised of a Governing Board member, Administrator (individual appointed by the Board to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Trust), and three Trustees.

In order to serve on the Self-Insurance Trust Board, prospective trustees must be able to meet the following commitments:

• Actively participate in quarterly Self-Insurance Trust Board meetings throughout the two-, three-, or four-year term approved.
  • Meetings are held quarterly on Thursday’s from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Ed Center located at 7575 E. Main Street, Scottsdale, AZ
• Financial background preferred.
• Review Board agendas prior to the meeting in preparation of the topics.
• Trustees will fill out the Conflict-of-Interest form.
• Be willing to participate as an unpaid volunteer.
