Cheyenne K-5 Math Adoption Committee

Purpose

The purpose of the Cheyenne K-5 Math Adoption Committee is to review, evaluate, and recommend quality and appropriate textbooks and instructional resources for approval by the district Governing Board for use at Cheyenne Traditional School. 

Objectives

The committee will:

  • Understand the nine cornerstones of traditional learning at Cheyenne Traditional School.
  • Learn about current best practices in mathematics instruction as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
  • Learn about Arizona Mathematics Standards
  • Review rubric criteria to be used to evaluate math textbooks and resources. 
  • Review and evaluate math textbooks and instructional resources.
  • Recommend textbooks and instructional resources to the Governing Board for formal approval and adoption.

Public Review of Materials

Location: Cheyenne Traditional School,  13636 N. 100th St, Scottsdale, AZ 85260

Dates: Monday, January 8, 2024 – Tuesday, April 30, 2024

Times: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM on regular SUSD days

Additional Time & Date: Community Curriculum Viewing Night: Tuesday, February 13th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm, room 104

Requirements

Applicants must be able to meet the following commitments:

  • Review committee meeting agendas and assigned materials prior to each meeting.
  • Complete a conflict-of-interest form and adhere to the norms established for the committee work.
  • Be willing to participate as an unpaid volunteer.
    • Eligible certified employees may receive horizontal move hours for committee meetings occurring after the school day.
  • Attend and actively participate in all committee meetings from November 2023 - February 2024. Meeting dates and times are:

Additional information about committee meetings:

  • Meetings marked with an asterisk* may not be necessary depending on the workload of the group.
  • Committee members will be informed of their assigned smaller work group at the first meeting.
  • Specific times for Vendor Presentation times are TBD, and may occur during the school day.  If so, classroom teachers will be provided with a substitute for the presentation day on February 22nd.
