At its regular board meeting on April 16, 2019, the SUSD Governing Board voted unanimously to redevelop Hohokam Elementary School.

The Hopi Elementary School Rebuild project included the demolition of the original school campus, built in 1961, and the new construction of a 79,985-square-foot elementary school located in Scottsdale, AZ. The facility functions as an educational institution consisting of a classroom building, administration building, and gymnasium for over 760 students enrolled in kindergarten through fifth grade. The school also features new athletic fields, outdoor basketball courts, and playground equipment. Construction included a new foundation of concrete footings and stem walls with a structural frame of steel columns, beams, and steel joists. An exterior insulation finish system with Hardie paneling on the exterior sides, and a single-ply membrane roof completed the construction. The Hopi Elementary School Rebuild project alleviated school overcrowding in a fully modernized, consolidated school campus.

On October 1, 2019, the Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board voted unanimously to name Kiva Elementary School, 6911 E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley, the sixth school to be renovated as part of a 2016 voter-approved Bond proposal.

In August 2018, a fire in a storage area on the campus of Navajo Elementary School, 4525 N. Granite Reef Rd., forced students and staff to relocate to 7501 E. Oak St. In October 2018, the SUSD Governing Board decided to use insurance money to restore fire-damaged areas of the campus. At its regular board meeting on February 12, 2019, the SUSD Governing Board approved $4.26 million in bond funds for additional renovations to the campus.

The Pima Elementary School Rebuild project, included the demolition of the original school campus, built in 1959, and the new construction of a 72,000-square-foot elementary school located in Scottsdale, AZ. The campus supports a classroom building, administration building, and a gymnasium for 700 students enrolled in pre-kindergarten through sixth grade. The school also features a library, athletic fields, outdoor basketball courts, and playground equipment. The new construction included a concrete footings foundation supported by stem walls, a metal structural frame and concrete masonry unit walls, an exterior insulation finish system covered with brick veneer, and a single-ply membrane roof. The Pima Elementary School Rebuild project has successfully met the district’s goal of offering a more traditional learning environment to students in a fully modernized and expanded school facility.

Pueblo is the sixth, and last, Scottsdale Unified School District campus to be rebuilt using voter-approved 2016 Bond Funds.
