Bond

What is a Bond?

A school bond is a voter-approved funding tool that allows a school district to pay for long-term capital needs. In Arizona, bond funds are generally used for items such as building improvements, school renovations, safety and security upgrades, technology infrastructure, school buses, equipment and other capital projects.

Bond funds are different from daily operating funds. They cannot be used for regular classroom operating expenses such as teacher salaries, employee benefits, utilities or routine supplies.

In short, bonds help school districts invest in facilities, infrastructure and equipment that support students, staff and schools over time.
