End of Year Events for Eighth Graders
The end of the year is quickly approaching and there are several events for eighth graders to celebrate the accomplishments of middle school and the transition into high school.
- Yearbooks will be distributed May 29 during school. Cost is $45 and order forms are available in the Mountainside office.
- May 28 is the end-of-year field trip for eighth graders. This year, students will be attending the Disney’s live action Aladdin at Harkins Shea 14, followed by a party at Scottsdale Ranch Park with music, lunch and games. This is a school field trip, so signed permission forms, medical forms and payment will be required. Teachers will help supervise and parents are needed to help chaperone as well. Please contact the office if you are willing to chaperone: 480-484-5500. Cost is $20. The concessions will be open at the movies at additional cost. Students may only be picked up or dropped off at SCHOOL! Look for permission forms to be sent home in late April.
- Your students will NOT want to miss the Bon Voyage celebration May 29 from 7-9:30 PM in the Mountainside gym and student center. Permission forms have been sent home, so PLEASE have your students return them as soon as possible. The Mountainside PTO sponsors this event and it has become the “can’t miss” event of the year. Students will NOT be able to enter without a permission form.
- All students will participate in a “Step-Up” ceremony during school May 30 at the Desert Mountain auditorium. This is a students-only event to acknowledge ALL student’s promotion. May 30 is a 12:50 early release day, and the last of school.
