4th Quarter Grades Matter
At the end of the 4th Quarter, 8th grade students will have an opportunity to participate in a series of year-end celebrations. Please mark your calendars …
Tuesday, May 21st: Field Trip to Sun Splash! Mohave and other SUSD Middle Schools will attend the water park and celebrate a day of play together. $25.00 per person (permission slips and more information will come out in April). We will arrive at the park around 10 AM and stay until 4 PM, arriving back at Mohave at 4:30 PM. Lunch is included in the entrance fee.
Tuesday, May 28th: 8th grade Dance in our Café from 6 to 8 PM sponsored by PTO!
Thursday, May 30th: 8th grade Promotion Assembly in our Gym from 8 to 9:30 AM. In the past, many families have chosen (but are not required) to sign their student out and continue their promotion celebrations off campus.
To be eligible for these celebrations, students must maintain good academic standing. Students with 2 OR MORE failing grades at the time of the celebration may not participate. We strongly encourage parents and students to monitor student grades throughout the quarter and to reach out to their teachers and counselors for help and support should grades fall below the requirement.
In addition, to remain eligible for these celebrations, students must demonstrate appropriate school behaviors throughout the quarter. Students who are referred to the office for disciplinary action may forfeit their eligibility to these celebrations.
We want every 8th grade student to finish this academic year strong and to participate in these celebrations!
Parents are encouraged to reach out to the school as needed, and as a home-school team we will work together to keep all students eligible.
Dressing for Success Matters
The warm weather of spring often results in dress code violations. We want to ensure that all Mohave students are dressed appropriately for school and for success. We encourage families to review the SUSD Dress Code together. The Code can be found on-line at susd.org and by clicking on the Information Backpack. Links to the Code are then found on the right side of the page. The Dress Code is found on page 13 of the Code of Conduct.
Please note that Mohave students are active learners. They raise their hands, they move about the classroom, and gather as groups at tables or on the floor. Some garments may meet the requirements of Code while standing still, but may not meet the Code when the student is moving around. Please take movement into consideration when helping your child choose an outfit for school.
Students who are out of dress code will be sent to the nurse to change into an appropriate school outfit.
If you have questions or concerns please contact Mr. Asmussen or Mrs. Allen.
