Off-site evacuation/reunification drill information for parents
Dear Cheyenne Families,
Scottsdale Unified School District and Cheyenne Traditional School maintain student safety as a primary focus. Throughout the school year students, faculty and staff practice safety protocols such as fire drills, bus evacuation drills and lockdown drills. On Friday, February 22nd, 2019, Cheyenne students and staff will be participating in an Off-Site Evacuation and Parent/Student Reunification Drill, to practice how to safely evacuate campus, travel to an off-site location, and reunite parents with their students. During this drill, Cheyenne is proudly partnering with Desert Mountain High School, SUSD District leadership, SUSD Transportation Department, and Scottsdale Police Department. All students are encouraged to participate in this evacuation exercise.
The Off-Site Evacuation Drill will begin at approximately 8:00am. The Cheyenne safety team and the Scottsdale police officers will begin the orderly campus evacuation. SUSD school busses will transport students to Desert Mountain High School where they will be supervised by Cheyenne staff while the Parent/Student Reunification Drill is taking place. The school busses will then return all to Cheyenne’s campus between 11:00am-12:00pm.
I am recruiting only 100 families to volunteer as participants in the Parent/Student Reunification process at Desert Mountain High School. This commitment will require your participation from about 9:00am-11:00am on February 22nd, 2019. If you are able to commit to the time frame, please sign up at the following website, . I will contact with you with further information about what your role will be during the Parent/Student Reunification process.
Your student’s participation in the drill requires a permission slip. The permission slip is attached. Please sign and return to your student’s teacher by February 11th, 2019. Should you have any questions, please contact the office at 480-484-5600.
