What Is Rise Hour
Student Instructions (FAQ) – Rise Hour
What is Rise Hour?
Rise Hour is a 1 hour lunch period for all students, with a 30-minute tutoring session built into the beginning of the hour for needed help.
Rise Hour is a way for you to get extra help during the school day instead of having to show up after school. We know that you are a busy teenager and want to be respectful of your time, as well as provide you with needed help. Additionally, this will allow you to be more active in the CHS community by offering clubs, activities, etc. during lunch.
Does everyone have to go to Rise Hour?
Your teacher will assign you to a Rise Hour session based on your class grade or your need for extra help. In this case, it will be mandatory that you attend Rise Hour Monday through Thursday of the following week. You will have to attend the assigned Rise Hour time, and you will have the other 30 minutes for lunch.
You may also choose to attend a Rise Hour session. This is voluntary, but this choice is a smart one if you need extra help, need to get caught up on an assignment, or just enjoy your teacher’s room. Other than that, you have an hour lunch if you are not assigned Rise Hour.
How do I know if I am assigned to Rise Hour?
Teachers will post assignments to Rise Hour in their rooms after lunch on Friday. This list will let you know if you are assigned to their room, or another room for help. Some subjects may assign you to a different classroom for more targeted help.
What if I am not assigned to Rise Hour?
You get an hour lunch! Join a club, go to open gym, enjoy the campus and all the awesome activities Coronado provides. We will also provide a study hall in the Media Center with teacher support to help you keep up with your academics. This is a time for you to get involved at CHS and make your time here at Coronado more meaningful and fulfilling. This will give you a glimpse into college and the ability to manage your time while still staying involved.
