Welcome Back Letter from Principal Hummon
Welcome to the 2018/2019 school year! Whether you are a new Dust Devil or a returning Pueblo family…we are excited to see you! We have many dates planned for “back to school” events and we look forward to seeing all families back on campus!
Please mark your calendars:
July 24th 7:30-4PM- Pueblo office reopens
Thursday August 2nd 5-7PM- Meet and Greet the Teaching Teams
Students and families are welcome to visit our campus, the classrooms, meet the teachers and staff, and drop off school supplies. Community partners will be present to provide information about our enrichment programs and Kids Clubs options. Our fantastic PTO will also be available so that families can find out the many ways to get involved in our amazing school/community partnerships.
Student Class Placement- Due to privacy laws, we are unable to post class lists. Parents will be receiving an e-mail with your child’s teaching team placement by Wednesday August 1st. We will have staff available during “meet the teacher” to direct parents to your child’s classrooms.
Tuesday August 7th 8:40AM-3:15PM- The First Day of School! J
I love the first day of school! There is nothing more exciting than seeing the smiling faces of new and returning children. I love the feeling of anticipation that we (educators) get when we see our new group of amazing learners!
Pueblo does adhere to the SUSD secure campus policy (meaning visitors must sign in and receive a visitors badge before entering campus) We will allow parents to walk students to their classroom door and pick up their students from the classroom on the first two days of school (Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th)
Beginning on Thursday, August 9th we will adhere to our secure campus procedures for arrival and dismissal.
Tuesday August 7th 8:45AM- 9:45AM-New and Returning Parent “Meet and Greet” Breakfast
After you drop your student in their classroom and the bell rings, please join us in the café for our new and returning parent breakfast and “meet and greet.” Administration and representatives from PTO will be on hand to answer any questions/concerns. This is a great opportunity for families to meet one another and learn how to get involved at Pueblo. Coffee and continental breakfast will be served.
Wednesday August 15th 5:00-6:45PM- Curriculum Night for Grades K-5
(Note that pre-K only will host their curriculum night on August 9th from 6-7PM)
This adult only evening provides parents an opportunity to learn more about our dual-language program goals, curriculum, and instructional initiatives for this upcoming school year.
Please note that the evening will have two repeating sessions for families with more than one child.
5-5:25- We will begin our evening all together in the cafeteria to be introduced to the new faculty and staff of Pueblo and learn about our overall 2018/2019 goals.
5:30-6:05PM- Session 1 in classrooms
6:10-6:45- Session 2 in classrooms
**6:45-7:00- Information session in the library**
** This is intended ONLY for families of students in grades 3 and 4 who are qualified and placed in accelerated math
Please note that information on changes to our before school academic/computer program will be coming out next week! Stay tuned, as we are excited to unveil improvements to our academic support programs for Pueblo students for the 2018/2019 school year!
