Cherokee Academic Programs
World Language - Spanish
The Spanish Program at Cherokee has been a breath of fresh air and has made our school complete. Parents are sharing that their children are coming home and asking them questions in Spanish and showing off their new language skills.
All K-3 students participate in the Spanish offering every four days as part of the Specials Rotation. Cherokee has a unique schedule for 4th and 5th graders that allows them to also participate in Band, Strings and Chorus. The 4th and 5th grade students can choose Spanish as an elective course and attend the Language Lab on Tuesday or Thursday mornings from 7:45-8:20, prior to school starting. Currently, 24 fourth graders and 15 fifth graders are enjoying this elective course during the zero hour.
Students are experiencing hands on activities within the world language offering.
Fine arts integration is already being planned and we’ll be bringing in music, art and the potential of physical education.
