The Arizona College and Career Ready Standards (ACCRS) provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn and master to succeed in college and careers. The K-12 standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success.  The ACCRS include the core standards developed by educators, content experts, researchers, national organizations and community groups – clearly establishing expectations for students to be best prepared to succeed in a global economy and society.  As a result of the new standards, students will be better prepared to synthesize complex reading material, develop and support positions, and routinely engage in analysis, problem solving and critical thinking.

SUSD completed its targeted roll out plan in 2013-14, and all grade levels are fully implementing the standards in English Language Arts and mathematics.

To ensure we have the best resources aligned to the ACCRS, SUSD has been very thoughtful in the selection of instructional materials during recent curriculum  adoption and review work. Special thanks to our SUSD taxpayers for approving capital override dollars to allow our students and teachers access to the best instructional materials and resources to support students'  understanding and application of the ACCRS!  (For more information about instructional materials used in all content areas in SUSD,  check out theInformation Backpack on the SUSD webpage.)
