Scottsdale Unified School District Welcomes Two New Board Members; Board Elects 2019 Officers
At its January 10 study session, returning Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) Governing Board members welcomed new members Patty Beckman and Jann-Michael Greenburg to the elected panel that oversees the Scottsdale public school system.
The new Board’s first official action was to make Beckman the panel’s 2019 President. “I am humbled and grateful to be given the opportunity to serve as the Governing Board President for 2019,” she said. “I am confident that our current board will work together to successfully implement many needed changes and foster the excellence that Scottsdale Unified School District has always known.”
The Board also elected returning Board member Allyson Beckham as its Vice President. Beckham, now in her third year on the Board, said she is honored and excited to serve SUSD in this new capacity. “I am confident the new Board, with the capable leadership of incoming Board President Patty Beckman, will move the district forward focusing its energy on students, learning and excellence.”
Both votes were unanimous.
Voters elected Beckman and Greenburg to their seats in November 2018. They succeed Kim Hartmann and Pam Kirby, who did not seek re-election. Beckman and Greenburg will serve four-year terms that run through 2022. Returning members Sandy Kravetz and Barbara Perleberg complete the five-member board.
A resident of Paradise Valley, Beckman is the chief financial officer of a local manufacturing company. She is an alumna of Glendale’s Moon Valley High School and Arizona State University, where she received a B.S. in Finance. Greenburg resides in Scottsdale and graduated from SUSD’s Arcadia High School in 2012. He received a law degree from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 2016.
