Media Guidelines

The Office of Communications is the primary point of contact for all media. We welcome members of the media into our schools and strive to provide accurate information as quickly as possible.

School Interviews

Please contact the Chief Marketing and Public Information Officer at 480-484-6254 to schedule interviews with Scottsdale Unified School District administrators, teachers and employees.

School Visits

When visiting any of our 29 school campuses and the district office, we ask that you please notify the Chief Marketing and Public Information Officer at 480-484-6254 and always check in with the front office. We take the security of our students and campuses seriously, so we ask media to avoid being on campus without making contact first. We will be happy to escort you around campus to ensure that your visit is successful.

Photographing Students and Staff

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) allows students and parents to opt out of the release of certain information about students, including photographs, and the Scottsdale Unified School District operates in strict compliance with this law. Before we can allow anyone to take photos, video and/or quotes from our students, a school or district administrator (identified by the word “Administrator” on an official district or school identification badge) must verify that these individuals have the proper release information on file. District employees may consent or withdraw consent at any time to participate in media interviews, photography shoots and video.
