Assessment and Accountability

The Assessment and Accountability Department supports the Scottsdale Unified School District in its mission of ensuring All Individual Learners Reach Their Full Potential.

Parents please plan all appointments accordingly as we will not disturb the classrooms during testing times. 

2018 AzMerit Results

2018 AzMERIT Test Results Summary:

  • 2018 SUSD AzMERIT scores exceed state scores at most grade levels and content areas, in some cases by as many as 24 percentage points.
  • 75% of SUSD 3rd graders were proficient in math in 2018.  Of those, 43% were classified Highly Proficient, the highest level on the test.
  • SUSD math score overall across multiple grade leveles were some of the highest they've been since test inception in 2018.
  • At the high school level, in 2018 more Scottsdale 9th and 10th grade students were proficient on AzMERIT ELA assessments than ever before.

AzMERIT
AzMERIT is the statewide test used to assess students in grades 3-11 in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

AIMS Science
AIMS Science is administered in the spring to students in Grades 4, 8, and high school.  The assessment measures student proficiency of the Arizona Academic Content Standard in Science.

College Readiness Assessment Information

ACT®
The ACT Exam is a college entrance assessment accepted at colleges and universities in the United States.
This year, the Scottsdale Unified School District will administer the assessment to all 11th grade students enrolled in the district.  The district will pay for the exam fees.

SAT®
The SAT Exam is a college entrance assessment accepted colleges and universities in the United States.

PSAT®
The PSAT is designed to prepare students for the SAT assessment and may be used to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship program.
This year, the Scottsdale Unified District will pay exam fees for all 10th grade students enrolled in the district.
PSAT Resources 

Advanced Placement®
The Advanced Placement Exam  is administered in May each year to measure how well students have mastered the content and skills learned in a given AP® course.

There are accommodations available for each test. Please refer to the list below to obtain additional information.

  • PSAT/NMSQT, SAT: Refer to the CollegeBoard™ website
  • ACT: Refer to the respective websites
  • AP: Contact the coordinator at the appropriate SUSD high school
