Student Resources

Tonalea is a PBIS School

  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three tiered framework to improve and integrate all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. PBIS creates schools where all students succeed. Here at Tonalea students earn PBIS points during the day and may use those points in the Tiger Store (that is our school store) or in our teacher stores (all teachers have a store for students).

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

  • Social-emotional learning, also known as, SEL, is a method of promoting holistic child development by teaching students skills such as self-regulation, persistence, empathy, self-awareness, and mindfulness. SEL has been shown to boost students’ test scores and grades, promote on-time graduation and college enrollment, increase students’ financial earnings as adults, and support their mental and physical well-being by teaching students to regulary their emotions, pay attention, and work well with their peers and classmates.
