Adam Luke was born and raised in the Scottsdale Unified School District, professionally speaking. While finishing his master’s degree in Secondary Education from Arizona State University, his placement as a student teacher lead him to Arcadia High School and had Luke quickly realizing that this was the district for him. He accepted a teaching position the following year at Desert Mountain High School instructing students in Advanced Placement United States History under the Pre IB program and after five years, he realized it was time to make a greater impact in education on a larger scale. Luke’s completion of his certificate in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University lead him to accept the position of assistant principal over student activities and 504 coordinator at Chaparral High School. After 2 years, Luke had the opportunity and privilege to become the principal of Mountainside Middle School. He is always learner focused and believes in Working Hard & Being Awesome to All.

Joseph Giovino comes from a line of educators three generations long. He spent five years as a highly effective teacher in a Title 1 middle school, where he worked to become a key part of the community he served. Earning the trust of his students and their families, Giovino was able to set high expectations for all his students and work seamlessly with their families in order to ensure they continually met them. He also found great satisfaction in mentoring other teachers, thus leading him to pursue a career in administration.

Giovino’s first administrative role was as principal of a private school for autism. In this position, he excelled at educating and empowering stakeholders of all kinds, including students, families, teachers, and staff. He is excited to bring his skills and experience back to the public realm, now even more equipped to ensure an equitable education for all.

He is passionate about public education and community building and plans to set deep roots within the community and culture of Mountainside Middle School and SUSD. Giovino is currently pursuing a doctorate in education and plans to model for his students and staff the perpetual pursuit of self-improvement and the importance of being a lifelong learner.
