Visitors & Volunteers
Parents who are scheduled to volunteer on campus are required to sign in at the front office, provide ID, and wear a visitor sticker any time they are on campus. Other adult visitors must make arrangements with the front office to visit our campus. Student visitor are not permitted.
Principal Matt Gromek
Mr. Gromek’s educational career began in Ohio where he graduated from John Carroll University in 2005 and served as a high school academic para-professional, where he coached varsity football, baseball, lacrosse, and basketball. He has been with the Scottsdale Unified School District since 2012. He began his career in Scottsdale as a 5th grade classroom teacher. He went on to become an assistant principal in elementary and middle school. He is now the Proud Principal of Kiva Elementary School. The 2023-2024 school year will be Mr. Gromek’s third year as principal at Kiva. He is honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a tradition of education excellence and parental involvement. Along with the amazing Kiva staff, Mr. Gromek will strive to continue the legacy of success that Kiva is known for by building strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. Mr. Gromek is committed to Scottsdale Unified School District’s vision of engaging all students in world-class, future-focused learning. When Mr. Gromek is not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing sports, and being outdoors.
Assistant Principal Rebecca Pentland
Rebecca Pentland is honored to serve as the new Assistant Principal at Kiva Elementary School this year. Mrs. Pentland has worked in elementary administration for the past 8 years as an assistant principal and principal. She has also taught 6th grade and supported teachers as an instructional coach throughout her career. Mrs. Pentland is happily married with four children and a Jack Russell Terrier at home. When Mrs. Pentland is not at Kiva, she enjoys spending time with her family, watching football, hiking and spending time at the beach.
