Echo Canyon Academic Programs

  • Echo Canyon School provides an integrated curriculum in which students engage in active, rather than passive, learning activities. Developmentally appropriate materials and experiences are provided for students to explore, think about, interact with, and communicate with other students and adults. In addition to implementing the state and district standards, the content of the curriculum is relevant, meaningful and engaging to students. Teachers recognize the importance of developing positive peer group relationships among students, and they provide opportunities and support for cooperative projects that not only develop cognitive ability but also promote positive peer interaction. Classroom atmosphere enhances students’ optimism about their own abilities and school in general, which motivates them to learn. Because each student develops at their own pace, students in multi-grade classrooms provide one another with opportunities to both push and pull each other along. Instructional strategies utilized educate the whole child, and teachers are ever cognizant of each student’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development. Echo Canyon School students are pushed to become self-confident learners, critical thinkers, problem-solvers and creative, expressive individuals.

Echo Canyon offers a looping model.  Students will have the same teacher for grades K/1, 2/3 and 4/5.  Sixth grade is a self-contained class with students participating in middle school electives.  Seventh and eighth grades are departmentalized among the four core classes.

In addition to core academic classes, Echo Canyon School offers a variety of enrichment and support programs. Those include, but are not limited to, the following:

Enrichment and Support Programs

  • After school opportunities for K-8

  • Enrichment Classes for Middle School Students

  • School-wide Support Services and Personnel

  • Special Subject Classes for K-6
