Free & Reduced Meals

Applications for free and reduced meals must be submitted annually, even if approved the previous year. We encourage all families to apply for free and reduced meal benefits..

Bringing the Harvest Home: Local Foods in the Cafeteria Keep Expanding at SUSD!

Our schools are taking big steps to bring more fresh, local foods to students, and we’re excited to share what’s new on the menu. This year, we’ve added K4 Ranches beef from Prescott, Oatman Farms organic heirloom grain sourdough bread, and Ramona Farms organic wheatberries, all grown or raised right here in Arizona. These ingredients not only taste great, but they also help us support the farmers and ranchers in our own communities.

Nutrislice provides a comprehensive menu of food choices and nutritional information in an easy-to-navigate website and smartphone app.

With a click of the mouse (or a tap of your finger), Nutrislice displays the nutrition information, known allergens, ingredients, serving size and carbohydrate counts. It's quick and easy!

Unpaid Meal Balance Procedure

At Scottsdale Unified School District Nutrition Services, we are committed to supporting our students’ success by offering healthy, balanced meals to our students. It is our mission to provide meals to all students; however, there are instances where a student may have no money to pay for a meal. In those instances, our team follows the procedure summarized below.

Should a student come through the line with a meal but does not have cash or account funds to cover the meal, the following charge procedure is in place:

SUSD will allow one week of charging for the first week of the school year, after which the grade level procedures outlined below will be instituted:

Elementary and Middle School students can receive up to five charged combo meals (1 per day).
High School students can receive up to two charged combo meals (1 per day).

Charged meals consist of a full combo meal of the student’s choice, including the choice of an entrée, fruit/vegetable sides, roll, and milk/juice. A la carte snack items are not a part of a combo meal and are not eligible for a student to charge. Should a student have a la carte items, they will be kindly redirected to please select items eligible for a combo meal for the day.

Please note that SUSD provides free breakfast and lunch to all students who qualify for free and reduced meals. Should you have difficulty paying for your child’s meals, we encourage you to fill out an application for free or reduced-price meals to see if you qualify for federal assistance.

In addition to serving the nutritional needs of students within Scottsdale Unified School District, we offer our catering services to the local community through Oak Catering.
