Arizona Healthy Schools Act

Beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, schools participating in the National School Lunch Program will implement the requirements of The Arizona Healthy Schools Act (HB 2164).

As required by state law, certain foods and beverages containing specific additives and artificial colorings may no longer be sold, served, or provided on campus during the regular school day.

Our department remains committed to providing students with nutritious meal choices that meet all federal and state nutrition requirements.

Families should be aware that these requirements affect classroom celebrations, birthday treats, pizza parties, and teacher-hosted lunches or snacks. While parents and guardians may continue to send food from home for their own child, foods and beverages provided to groups of students during the school day must comply with state requirements.

We understand this transition may generate questions, and we will continue to provide information and resources to support our school community.
