Student success doesn't happen by chance. Across Scottsdale Unified School District, instructional coaches, specialists, and coordinators work alongside teachers to provide expertise, resources, and guidance that help meet the diverse needs of learners. Whether supporting gifted students, multilingual learners, young children beginning their educational journey, or students needing specialized academic, behavioral, or social-emotional support, these teams collaborate with schools to ensure every student has opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Through coaching, professional learning, and direct consultation, they help strengthen instruction and create responsive learning environments across SUSD.
Early Learning
The Early Learning Team supports preschool and pre-kindergarten educators across SUSD by providing instructional guidance, coaching and resources that foster engaging and developmentally appropriate learning environments. The team helps educators build strong foundations in early literacy, language, social-emotional development and school readiness skills for young learners.
English Language Development
SUSD ELD Coaches collaborate with ELD teachers and school teams to strengthen instruction and targeted supports for multilingual learners. Through coaching, classroom collaboration, data analysis, and professional development, they empower educators to implement effective language acquisition practices that promote student achievement and language growth. By ensuring state compliance, they remain dedicated to meeting the diverse academic and linguistic needs of all English learners.

They support gifted programming and assist with identification, differentiation, acceleration, enrichment, and talent development while helping teachers design appropriately challenging learning experiences to ensure students learn at levels commensurate with their abilities and potential. In addition, they provide professional learning opportunities, instructional coaching, and facilitate SUSD’s gifted endorsement cohort, supporting teachers in earning their Arizona Gifted Endorsement at no cost. Their work helps ensure gifted learners have access to rigorous coursework, meaningful challenges, and opportunities for continuous growth.
Special Education Department
SUSD's Special Education coaches partner with special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to support students with disabilities across the district. They provide instructional coaching, guidance on special education practices, problem-solving support, and consultation to help schools deliver high-quality services and inclusive learning experiences. Their work helps ensure students have access to appropriate support, meaningful participation in learning, and opportunities for academic, social, and behavioral growth.
