Title VI Indian Education Grant

This grant is designed to address the unique cultural, language and educationally related academic needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students, including preschool children.

The funds are used to meet the unique cultural, language and educational needs of American Indian and Alaska Native students to ensure that all students meet the challenging State academic standard.

Eligibility Requirements:

(1) Be an American Indian/Alaska Native or a descendant of a biological parent or biological grandparent who is:

  • A member of an Indian tribe or band, as membership is defined by the Indian tribe or band, including any tribe or band terminated since 1940, and any tribe or band recognized by the State in which the tribe or band resides;
  • A descendant of a parent or grandparent who meets the requirements described in the above definition and is:
  • Considered by the Secretary of the Interior to be an Indian for any purpose
  • An Eskimo, Aleut, or another Alaska Native
  • A member of an organized Indian group that received a grant under the Indian Education Act of 1988 as it was effective on October 19, 1994.

(2) Must have a Title VI eligibility 506 form on file with Scottsdale Unified Schools District Native American Education Program office.
(3) Student must be currently enrolled with Scottsdale Unified School District

Title VI forms are for all Native American students currently enrolled with the Scottsdale Unified School District. All portions of the form must be completed in order to be eligible for services.
