Film & TV Production
Description
The Film and TV Production program prepares students to create professional-quality digital films and videos.
Students gain hands-on experience producing news broadcasts, commercials, public service announcements, documentaries, music videos, and more while working in a variety of on- and off-camera roles, with internship opportunities available to students enrolled in Level II.

News analysts, reporters, and journalists typically do the following:
- Research topics that an editor or news director has assigned to them
- Develop relationships with experts and contacts who provide tips and leads on stories or articles
- Interview people who have information, analysis, or opinions about a story or article
- Analyze and interpret information to increase audience understanding of the news
- Write stories or articles for newspapers, magazines, or websites and create scripts to be read on television or radio
- Review stories or articles for accuracy, style, and grammar
- Update stories or articles as new information becomes available
- Investigate new story or article ideas and pitch ideas to editors

This course is a prerequisite to all Film and TV programs.
Students will be introduced to basic media production software, techniques, and terminology. Hands-on curriculum allows students to create various industry-based projects using skills such as script writing, storyboarding, non-linear editing, graphic design, and audio production. This course provides training in the fundamentals of various Creative Suite software tools.

This course stresses critical analysis of film history, styles, genres, and advanced levels of production in film and video. In addition, this class requires higher levels of technology and portfolio development. Also included in the curriculum are advanced video filming and editing techniques, more depth for students in film genres through screenwriting, creative lighting, advanced sound components, make-up and costume development and video design components.
