Digital Photography I CTE prepares students to use technical expertise, creativity, and composition skills to produce and preserve images that communicate information, convey ideas, moods, and feelings, tell a story, or record an event. Throughout the Digital Photography CTE instructional program, students learn and practice valuable real-world skills using professional-grade digital cameras and industry standard image editing software to create high-quality media products while beginning a portfolio. Specific units of study included but are not limited to: Introduction to Digital Photography, Genres and History ofPhotography, Camera Basics, Composition, Basic Exposure, Aperture & Depth of Field, Shutter Speed Controls / CapturingMotion, Light, Digital Image Editing and Copyright Law.

In Digital Photography II CTE, year two of the two-year program, standards include but are not limited to: Digital Workflow, Digital Printing, Genres & History, Color Composition, Studio Lighting, Advanced Digital Image Editing, Photojournalism and FirstAmendment, Business of Photography. A portfolio of work will be required as the capstone project for the program. Students will explore the history and societal and economic impact of the digital photography industry and will examine legal and ethical considerations and business best practices unique to digital photography and related industries. Students will be preparing to take an industry certification to become an Adobe Certified Professional. Digital Photography students develop leadership, social, civic, and career skills through participation in one of the state-recognized Career and Technical Student Organizations, SkillsUSA or FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America)
