Online Learning

Students enrolled in the fully online option will complete their coursework 100% virtually. Instruction, assignments, teacher communication, and daily learning activities will take place through the online learning environment.

At the same time, students will be connected to their assigned SUSD comprehensive high school and will be considered members of both the online learning community and their high school community.

Every full-time online student will be assigned to an SUSD comprehensive high school.

• Students who live within the SUSD boundary will be connected to the high school that serves their home address.
• Students who live outside the SUSD boundary will be connected to the SUSD comprehensive high school closest to their home address.

Student ID Card

Your student's 2026–2027 student ID card will identify their assigned comprehensive high school. This connection allows students to participate in appropriate school events, athletics, activities, and other campus opportunities, subject to applicable school requirements.

Although students complete their coursework online, some testing requirements must be completed in person.

Online students are required to participate in:

• Required state testing, including the ACT, as applicable
• Final exams at their assigned comprehensive high school

Families should plan accordingly when scheduling and making arrangements for required in-person testing.

As part of their connection to an SUSD comprehensive high school, online students may receive:

• Campus newsletters
• School emails and announcements
• Information about important dates and activities
• Information about athletics, activities, and school events

Families will also continue to receive important communications from Online Learning, including information about coursework, academic progress, student support, and other online learning requirements.

Online students will:

• Complete their coursework virtually
• Work with their certified online teachers
• Access instruction and learning materials through the online learning environment
• Receive academic guidance and counseling support
• Receive testing support from the Online Learning team
• Receive progress reports and important Online Learning communications

The connection to an SUSD comprehensive high school does not change the online nature of the student's coursework.

The embedded Online Learning model allows students to maintain the flexibility and independence of a fully online education while also having a meaningful connection to an SUSD comprehensive high school.
