International Baccalaureate
Welcome to International Baccalaureate Program
International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized and highly acclaimed worldwide, nonprofit education program that was founded in 1968. There are currently four IB Programmes (Diploma Programme, Middle Years Programme, Primary Years Programme, Career-related Programme) all of which reflect a central desire to provide an education that enables students to make sense of the complexities of the world around them, as well as equipping them with the skills and dispositions needed for taking responsible action for the future. The IB programmes provide an education that crosses disciplinary, cultural, national, and geographical boundaries, and that champions critical engagement, stimulating ideas and effective relationships.
Scottsdale Unified School District offers three IB programmes at IB authorized World Schools. The IB Diploma Programme (grades 11-12), is offered at Desert Mountain High School. The IB Middle Years Programme is school-wide at Mountainside Middle School (grades 6-8) and at Desert Mountain HS (available in grades 9-10). The IB Primary Years Programme is school-wide at Anasazi Elementary School (grades K-5).
