The SUSD Academics Department communicates the expectations of state and District content standards and provides ongoing professional development to promote best practices for teaching and learning.
All content areas in SUSD teach the Arizona State Standards, specific to each grade level and course. For more information on the Arizona Department of Education Academic State Standards, please visit the Arizona Department of Education website.
School Letter Grades
The Arizona State Board of Education A-F School Letter Grades for the 2022-2023 school year have been released. We are happy to report that SUSD is an A rated district and that 28 of our 30 schools earned an A or a B rating.
Like all schools in Arizona and across the country, our schools continue to recover from the impacts of the pandemic, but overall, our students and schools are performing better than their peers.
Fourteen of our schools maintained their A rating, while eight improved. Also, Cherokee Elementary School, Desert Canyon Middle School, Hohokam Elementary School, Ingleside Middle School, Laguna Elementary School, Navajo Elementary School, and Pima Elementary School improved their letter grades from B’s last year to A’s this year. Copper Ridge School jumped from a C to an A.
Of 1,369 traditional elementary and middle schools in the state, Redfield Elementary School was ranked fourth, while Pueblo Elementary School was ranked 13th, giving SUSD two schools in Arizona’s top 20. At the high school level, Desert Mountain High School was ranked 12th, while Chaparral was ranked 17th.
