The Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) covers 112 square miles and includes parts of Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Phoenix and Tempe. While some residents may be especially familiar with SUSD as a parent, student or employee, others may be missing those meaningful insights. As such, SUSD is proud to announce the launch of SUSD IN-FOCUS. This program is designed to engage members of our community who are passionate about education and seeking a greater understanding of taxpayer support and return on investment.
Applications are being accepted for the 2023-2024 school year-long academy through May 5, 2023. Find more information about the program and application process below.
-
PURPOSE:
To provide members of the community with an opportunity to learn more about the Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), its operations (instructional, administrative and support services), its finances/economic impact and trending topics.
To create a sense of pride and knowledge among all SUSD stakeholders who benefit from a strong public school district.
ACADEMY OUTLINE:
Members of the academy will meet seven times over the course of the school year at varied locations across the district. Each session will focus on a different aspect of SUSD and will be facilitated by district leaders who oversee that area. Topics will include school finance, curriculum, school safety, teacher recruitment and retention, assessment and accountability, special education, transportation, facilities, nutrition and communications and how they relate to our Strategic Plan goals and Key Performance Indicators. Meetings 2-5 will include presentations on each of our five strategic plan goals, learning communities and their unique program offerings. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. prior to each session which will start promptly at 6 p.m. and conclude at 8 p.m.
Optional Learning Community tours will highlight academics, arts, athletics, extra curriculars, aging infrastructure, upgrades, bond and override priorities, changing demographics, specialty unique programs (Early Learning, DLI, IB, STEM, AVID, Math and Science Academy) and CTE (biotechnology, engineering, nursing…).
