A diploma seal is a special endorsement that recognizes a student for a certain accomplishment. In SUSD, students have the opportunity to earn a Fine Arts Seal and/or the Seal of Biliteracy. An official seal will be affixed to a student's diploma if they earn either of these endorsements. Accomplishments are also noted on a student's high school transcript. Please see below for more information.
SUSD Fine Arts Proficiency Diploma Seal
The Fine Arts Seal is awarded to graduating high school students who complete an Arizona Fine Arts Pathway and engage in additional fine arts or career and technical education courses; fine arts-related extracurricular activities and community service, and the presentation of a Fine Arts Capstone Project.

Seal of Biliteracy
The Arizona Seal of Biliteracy Program recognizes high school students who achieve proficiency in English plus at least one additional language.
SUSD can currently award a Seal of Biliteracy for the following languages: Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (traditional or simplified), Polish, Russian, and Spanish.
Step 1: Apply for the seal for your graduation year.
Step 2: Upload any test results that are applicable for ELA or your testing language to your application.
Step 3: If not enrolled in level 4 (if enrolled in a level 4, no fee), pay $20 to the bookstore and make arrangements with a world language teacher to take the test with their class.
Step 4: Testing usually occurs 2 weeks prior to spring break.
Step 5: Students will receive information on their status in late April or early May.
