• Academic Recognition

  • SUSD is transitioning from ranking students based on academic grade point average (GPA), to recognizing students with the Latin honors system based on an overall weighted GPA.

For the class of 2024, students will be ranked based on their academic GPA, as well as recognized using the Latin honors system, which is based on an overall weighted GPA. An overall GPA includes all grades earned in all classes.

Starting with the Class of 2025, rank in class will no longer be used in SUSD, only the Latin honors system.

    Latin honor distinction categories include:

    • Cum Laude: Students with an Overall Weighted GPA of 3.750-4.249
    • Magna Cum Laude: Students with an Overall Weighted GPA of 4.250-4.499
    • Summa Cum Laude: Students with an Overall Weighted GPA of 4.500+

Please see page 21 of our High School Planning Guide for more information regarding academic recognition.

  • Diploma Seals

  • A diploma seal is a special endorsement that recognizes a student for a certain accomplishment. In SUSD, students have the opportunity to earn a Fine Arts Seal and/or the Seal of Biliteracy. An official seal will be affixed to a student's diploma if they earn either of these endorsements. Accomplishments are also noted on a student's high school transcript. Please see below for more information.
