Provided social/emotional support when I experienced challenges, had some amazing teachers that believed in my abilities, provided alternative education options when I hit a tough spot (I got sober in high school after a drug addiction), challenged me to push past my comfort zone.”

How did SUSD prepare you for success?
"SUSD prepared me for success by allowing me to thrive in my own unique way. I am so thankful for all of the art teachers who really helped foster my creativity, while also allowing me to grow in other ways. I think the arts are just as important as math, English and science. My well-rounded education at the SUSD schools allowed me to pursue my marketing degree, which I use every day as a real estate broker."

Undergraduate student, W.A. Franke College of Business, Northern Arizona University
Industry: Business & Financial Services
SUSD Schools Attended:
Cheyenne Traditional School, Desert Mountain High School
Graduated: 2019
How did SUSD prepare you for success?
"I attended Cheyenne Traditional School for the first decade years of my life (Kindergarten-8th grade), which set me up for success. I liked wearing uniforms, the elevated grading scale, and the high standards I was held to. Cheyenne prepared me by pushing myself beyond my known limits, improve my time management skills, and form intentional relationships with teachers. After Cheyenne, I attended Desert Mountain High School, where I was exposed to eye-opening experiences. I continued to work hard, and managed school, varsity tennis, a part-time job, and a social life. I decided to attend NAU because I wanted a change of scenery and climate, different culture, and size. I earned dual enrollment credit in high school and credit it to SUSD because I am graduating a year early. Upon graduation in May, I will ship out to Basic Training, as I have joined the U.S. Army in hopes of becoming an officer."
