• Class of 2025

  • 10th Grade ECAP Goals:

Students will understand the purpose and value of the SAT and ACT by:

    • Taking the PSAT (given at Chaparral during the school day; no registration required for 10th graders)

Students will explore and gain an understanding of their career interests by:

    • Completing a “Career Interest Profiler" in Naviance and then researching a career based on their results

Counselors met with all 10th graders on November 29th, 2022. We presented on various topics including transcript review, college testing information, EVIT, College and Career Center resources, and completed a "Career Interest Profiler" activity through their Naviance account. Counselors covered the same information with parents at our Coffee with the Counselors event on December 2nd, 2022. Please see our PowerPoint if you were unable to attend.

AP Course Recommendations Based on Past Test Scores:

If you’ve taken the PSAT, you can look at your online score report to see information about which AP courses CollegeBoard thinks you’ll likely do well in. Click Here for more information.

Any student who wishes to participate in college athletics must register with the NCAA. Students who plan to play in either Division I or II must register, while those who plan to play in Division III do not.

NCAA requires specific courses to be taken at specific times during high school. To see what is required of each of the three divisions, Click Here.

ACE Program through Scottsdale Community College:

Achieving a College Education (ACE) is a nationally recognized, competitive application-based college preparation program for high school students.

The ACE Program targets first-generation college students to help them explore, prepare, and work towards achieving a college education. All first-generation students, college exploratory, or students who are ready to challenge themselves with the opportunity to work towards a college education while in high school, are encouraged to apply!

The online application is due by February 24, 2023. Click Here to learn more on SCC's website.

    College Testing:

SUSD pays and registers all 10th graders to take the PSAT in the fall semester. Students need to review their scores and remediate any areas of weakness before their junior year test date.

Consider taking a FREE practice length test for the ACT or SAT to determine which test is for you.

Princeton Review is a valuable website to use when assessing the difference between the SAT & ACT tests. Similar tests are available through Scottsdale Education Center, Kaplan, Revolution Prep or Vogel Prep.

Here are some ACT "Question of the Day" sources:

The "Question of the Day" could be from any exam section. Studying one question per day can add up over time and it is a great starting point!

Students can also visit ACT's website for sample test questions. If you look over to the right, you can change the subject area.
