COVID-19 SYMPTOMS
Any one of the following symptoms:
• Any allergy-like symptoms
• Fever > 100.0 F and/or chills
• Muscle or body aches
• Headache, sore throat, congestion, runny nose
• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
• Cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing
• New loss of taste or smellCOVID-19 POSITIVE
WITH SYMPTOMS
May return AFTER:
• 5 or more full days of isolation since
symptom onset AND• 24 hours fever-free without the use of
fever-reducing medication AND• Improving symptoms AND
• CDC and MCDPH recommends mask be worn upon return for an additional 5 days
WITHOUT SYMPTOMS
May return AFTER:
• 5 full days of isolation since sample was collected (return on Day 6) AND
• CDC and MCDPH recommends mask be worn upon return for an additional 5 days
• If symptoms develop within 10 days following
a positive test, may return after:- 24 hours fever-free without the use of
fever-reducing medication AND- Improving symptoms
COVID-19 CLOSE CONTACT
• Close contact for 15 minutes or more within a 24-hour period• Household contact
*It is recommended that anyone who has been exposed get tested on Day 5 after exposure.
WITH SYMPTOMS
May return AFTER:
• Improving symptoms AND
• 24 hours fever-free without the use of fever- reducing medication
• Recommend testing as a precaution (not required to show proof of negative test)
• May seek diagnosis of illness by medical professionals to determine a safe return
May NOT return
• If test result is COVID-19 POSITIVE,
see box aboveWITHOUT SYMPTOMS
For students and staff:
• Recommended to wear a mask for 5 days, get tested on Day 6 if symptomatic

Mitigation Strategy Students Teachers & Staff Parents COVID-19 Vaccinations • SUSD is prohibited by Arizona law (A.R.S. § 15-342.05) from requiring students to be vaccinated against COVID.
• The COVID-19 vaccine is widely available in the community. Currently, only those students 5 and older are eligible to be vaccinated against COVID.
• SUSD strongly recommends that all students 5 and older be vaccinated against COVID.
• SUSD is prohibited by Arizona law (A.R.S. § 15-342.05) from requiring teachers and staff to be vaccinated against COVID.
• SUSD strongly recommends that all SUSD staff be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The COVID-19 vaccine is widely available in the community.
• SUSD offered free vaccination clinics to all employees in Jan./Feb. 2021.
• The COVID-19 Acknowledgement that you are required to sign as part of your annual review of the SUSD Code of Conduct is an acknowledgement that you have read and understand the conditions under which we are able to provide in-person instruction. • Kits are available for teachers and staff by request. N/A Mitigation Strategy District Information Water Fountains • All Drinking fountains are now on and operational. Water-filling stations are also available to ensure that students are able to remain well-hydrated during the school day and during after-school, extracurricular activities. Students are encouraged to bring their own refillable water bottles. Hand Hygiene • Frequent handwashing will continue to be encouraged. Hand-sanitizing stations are located at convenient locations throughout schools. Ventilation Systems • MERV-13 air filters have been installed in district cooling and heating systems to reduce the potential for transmission of the COVID virus. Temporary School Closures • Any decision to close a school as a result of significant spread of COVID within the school will be made in conjunction with the MCDPH. Should this be required, the District will continue to provide learning opportunities until in-person education is resumed. Temporary Classroom or Activity Closures • Based on outbreak status and in consultation with the MCDPH, SUSD may temporarily close down a classroom or suspend an activity because of a campus COVID-19 outbreak. Should this be required, the District will continue to provide learning opportunities until in-person education is resumed. Weekly District Reporting Community COVID Metrics • Scottsdale Unified School District ended its practice of providing weekly updates on the transmission level of COVID-19 in our community following spring break in March 2022. Current information is still available on the Maricopa County Department of Public Health website at https://www.maricopa.gov/5786/COVID-19-Data#levelhttps://www.maricopa.gov/5786/COVID-19-Data#level. You can search by school district, zip code or city.
• In the past, this data was used to determine whether instruction should be virtual, hybrid, or in-person. The CDC has prioritized in-person education and does not recommend shifting learning modality.
