Arcadia Teacher to Represent SUSD at Virtual Engineering Education Conference

Arcadia High School's director of Creative Musical Arts and Sciences (CMAS) program, Richard Maxwell, will represent SUSD at the ‘Frontiers in Education’ virtual, online conference of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in October 2020.
Mr. Maxwell is part of a national pilot program headed up by the University of Maryland and coordinated locally by Arizona State University, called ‘Engineering for Us All' (e4usa). e4usa is a first-of-its-kind national initiative that is designed to introduce engineering design principles to a new generation of American students.
Music, with its compositional patterns, is closely associated with mathematics and, thus, engineering, so Mr. Maxwell is a perfect participant in this pilot that aims to de-mystify engineering and help students make connections between something they may take for granted – music – and the world of science.
