Posted by SUSD Communications on 9/15/2020
14 SUSD seniors have been selected as semifinalists in the 2021 National Merit® Scholarship Program.
Out of a pool of more than 1.5 million students, these academically talented members of our Class of 2021 are among 16,000 students nationwide who are now eligible for National Merit scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be awarded next spring.
They became eligible by virtue of their scores on the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) that they took last year as juniors.
SUSD’s National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalists are:
Arcadia High School
- Calvin Eng
- Maximilian Lunifeld
- Mary McManus
Chaparral High School
- Morgan Brophy
- Montgomery Gibson
- Alexandra Meng
- Siddhant Saxena
- Branden Yang
Desert Mountain High School
- Sanya Agarwal
- Joongho Auh

These students’ work is not over. To continue in the competition, they must submit a detailed scholarship application that provides information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities, demonstrated leadership abilities, employment, and honors and awards they have received.
Finalists will be named in February 2021.
