Ms. Kristal Becerra

Kristal was born in Oakland, CA, but grew up in Mesa, AZ. She graduated from Skyline High School before receiving her undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from ASU (Go Sun Devils). She is a first-generation college graduate and knows the importance of receiving a post-secondary education. Kristal has several years of experience working in the non-profit sector and most recently helped victims of crime navigate the court system. When she isn’t at work, she enjoys anything that involves soccer, chocolate, and the horror genre. Ms. Becerra looks forward to working with students and staff to help create an attainable, individualized pathway to succeed in school.
Mr. John "TG" Acedo
GEAR UP Coach
John Acedo, also known as Tie Guy or Mr. TG, came to Coronado HS, after 12 years of working for college access programs at Northern Arizona University (NAU), with Arizona GEAR UP and the Director of the College of Education’s Office of Community Engagement. John taught for several years in the Alhambra Elementary School District, as a middle school general/choir teacher, and as the Musical Coordinator for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metropolitan Phoenix. Tie Guy received his Bachelor’s degree in K-12 Music Education and his Master’s in Educational Technology from NAU.
Ms. Siena Moreno
GEAR UP Assistant
Ms. Siena earned her Bachelor's Degree in Art Theory & Practice and English Literature from Northwestern University in 2018, and she is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in School Counseling from Northern Arizona University. She is from Michigan originally, and although she misses the beach and her favorite bagel shop, she absolutely loves living in Arizona. She has a passion for the arts, working with adolescents, making hands-on projects, and eating ice cream. Ms. Siena has no idea what she wants to be when she grows up, but she is confident that she will always be working with children and teens. In her free time, she likes to cook, play video games, do puzzles, and play with her dog, Reggie. Ms. Siena loves sunshine, dark chocolate, blueberries, and sass. She hopes to never stop pursuing her passions and wants to encourage others to do the same.
