SUSD Students “Return to Learn” on August 10, 2020
  • The earliest SUSD campuses will open for Full Time On Campus learning is currently September 8, 2020. This date may change due to evolving health conditions, public health guidance and potential executive orders from the State of Arizona.

PLEASE NOTE: If families did not choose a “Return to Learn model” by Friday, July 24, students will be automatically enrolled in Enhanced Distance Learning/Full Return at their school site.  If families want to enroll in Scottsdale Online and they did not fill out the “Return to Learn” form, they can complete an enrollment form online at www.susd.org/enroll.  New requests to enroll in Scottsdale Online will be based on space availability.

Our Planning Approach

  • SUSD has been working diligently to develop options for families when school reopens. We have worked with stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, classified, and parents, and considered district-wide survey data. Using all of this information, the Teaching and Learning, Social Emotional and Operations and Logistics subcommittees, have developed guidelines and teaching and learning models to address different parent and student interests. We want to take this opportunity to thank all who participated in working through the details needed to reopen SUSD schools.

These recommendations from the subcommittees were presented to the Governing Board on July 7, 2020 in a “Return to Learn” plan with three methods of learning. The Governing Board and SUSD leaders received an overwhelming volume of feedback on these subcommittee recommendations through SUSD’s new Let’s Talk software, as well as email and phone calls. The feedback from the community was used to inform revisions to the recommendations to narrow the options at a July 9, 2020 Governing Board meeting for all SUSD students to two choices: full-time on campus and full-time online.
