Six Class of 2020 Members Named National Merit Scholarship Winners
Posted by SUSD Communications on 6/09/2020
Six more members of SUSD's Class of 2020 were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Foundation for their outstanding academic records, leadership abilities and extracurricular activities.
This latest group of scholarships, announced the first week of June, are funded by the colleges and universities these graduates will attend, and range from $500 to $2,000 a year for four years of undergraduate study.
Scott Ledyard and Megan McCartan from Arcadia High School were named National Merit Scholarship winners. Scott is headed to Northwestern University to study engineering and Megan will be at ASU to pursue a possible career in medicine.
Four Desert Mountain High School graduates were also recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Foundation: Lauren Douglass, who is going to ASU to study astrophysics; Connor Heron, who will attend the University of Chicago, where he will study economics; Katelynn Lewallen will attend Vanderbilt University with an eye toward law school; and Kelsi McAnally, who is interested in pursuing a career in microbiology and immunology after attending ASU.
We know that great success lies ahead for these members of SUSD’s Class of 2020, and we wish them all the best.
