Coronado High School Earns Grant From Northern Arizona University

Coronado High School has been selected as one of five high schools in the state to receive an Arizona GEAR UP school grant administered by Northern Arizona University. The grant will run from 2019 to 2026, and has the potential to impact the entire Coronado Learning Community.
GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. GEAR UP is part of a state and national effort to increase educational success statewide and is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to not only enter, but succeed in postsecondary education.
We foresee that the grant will provide funding for targeted support of students, working backward from senior year, to support their academic success, improve attendance and increase Coronado’s graduation rate.
