Empty Bowls Community Event

A tradition of community service through the arts has been expanded to include the community of Scottsdale art teachers, Saguaro students and for the first time this year, the general Saguaro faculty. All participants are creating ceramic bowls which are fired, glazed, and contributed to the Scottsdale Community College event on Dec. 5th.
At that time, the staff of SCC’s cafeteria prepares a meal of pasta to fill the bowls. Participates make a donation for the meal that includes the purchase of the bowl. All of the proceeds go to the city of Scottsdale’s Vista del Camino program to fight hunger and prevent homelessness.
The empty bowls event will be held in the Turquoise Room in the Student Center building (SC) at SCC, 9000 E. Chaparral Road, Scottsdale
More information about this empty bowls is available from SCC at 480-423-6050.

Note from the Nurse's Office

August 14, 2008

Dear Parents and Guardians,

There has been a change in Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) guidelines regarding the medication that is given out in our school Health Centers.  Previously, the consent to give medication was on the back of your student’s emergency card. It gave our school nurses the option of administering a limited amount of over-the-counter (OTC) medications (like Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Tums, etc.). This has changed.

We now need you to complete a Medication Administration Record. Also, you must provide only the specific, age-appropriate medication (as listed on the medication) and it must be in an original, sealed container before any over-the-counter medication will be given to your child.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you or your student, but this new guideline is in the best (and safest) interest of all our students.  Please feel free to call your student’s school nurse or to stop by your school’s Health Center for more information or to provide the proper medication and documentation for your student.
