Clif McKenzie coaches IAAF World Youth Track & Field in Morocco
Clif McKenzie, executive director of exceptional customer experience, was selected to represent the United States as one of the coaches for the 2005 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Youth Track & Field Championships, which will take place from July 13-17, 2005, in Marrakech, Morocco. The team departs for Morocco July 8th.
Two thousand athletes will represent more than 160 countries from around the world, including athletes from Arizona, California, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.
“I’m excited to again represent the United States -- as an athlete in the past and now as a coach this time,” said Mr. McKenzie. “It is an honor and privilege to be selected as a coach.”
The athletes will participate in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 and 3000 meter relays; 110 and 400 meter hurdles; high, long and triple jumps; pole vault; shot put; discus, hammer and javelin throws; decathlon and medley relay.
“The athletes participating in the IAAF World Youth Track & Field Championship will probably be our next Olympians,” said Mr. McKenzie.
Mr. McKenzie has been coaching track and field for many years. Long after being an elite athlete, he still competes at a top level. Mr. McKenzie is the president of the United States Track & Field of Arizona. In addition, he is the owner of a track club – Arizona Elite and coaches 30 youths.
Mr. McKenzie is an Arizona State All American Hall of Fame, University of Pennsylvania Wall of Fame, which the team he was on broke the collegiate record for the 1600 meter relay. He has served on four United States teams as a runner in the 400 meter. Mr. McKenzie earned a Bachelors of Arts in education and Masters in administration from Arizona State University.
