Special Night for Special Kids brightens the season

Scottsdale Unified School District’s Service Learning Department and the City of Scottsdale invite special needs children, their families and caretakers to a free event – Special Night for Special Kids – from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the McCormick Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale.

Activities include a free picture with Santa and free train and carousel rides, holiday light displays, craft booths, free hot chocolate, homemade cookies, game booths with prizes, cookie decorating stations and the train will have special cars to accommodate wheelchairs. Costume characters will also be there.

“This is a unique opportunity for special children to visit with Santa, enjoy the railroad park and the other free holiday activities,” said John Baird, director of Community Schools and Service Learning.

Sponsors for the event are APS, General Dynamics, Health World and Mardi Gras Costumes.
