The Scottsdale Unified School District is issuing
the following statement to provide information to the community
regarding a personnel matter at Sequoya Elementary School.
This statement is to confirm that Sequoya Elementary
School Principal Maureen Booth was placed on administrative leave
with pay this morning, Sept. 10. She will remain on leave pending
the outcome of an investigation that is focusing on the administration
and management of her office. In her absence, Michael Helminski,
will act as senior administrator on campus. Dr. Helminski is the
principal at Kiva Elementary School. He will be on special assignment
at Sequoya for the immediate future.
“There has been an ongoing investigation
for several months,” said Kim Cumby, executive director
of Human Resource Services. “The investigation is continuing
while the principal is on administrative leave.”
“Because this is an internal administrative
and personnel issue, the District will reserve additional comment
at this time,” Mrs. Cumby said.
