Scottsdale schools sponsor
community forum:
Keeping our children safe
The Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD)
invites parents, grandparents, and neighbors to a community forum
on “Keeping Our Children Safe: Prevention and Intervention.”
The program is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 25, in the
auditorium at the Civic Center Library, 3839 N. Drinkwater Blvd.,
Scottsdale.
A panel of experts will speak on a number of
issues, provide resources and handouts, and answer questions concerning
the following topics:
- Identifying children at risk
- Traits and characteristics of child abusers
- Driving safety
- Suicide prevention
- Communicating with children
“In the wake of tragic events in our school
community and in other school districts in the valley, this forum
provides an opportunity to have pertinent questions answered by
a panel of experts who work with children and crisis situations,”
said Dr. Althe Allen, executive director of student services for
SUSD.
“There are many resources in our community
that parents, children, and educators can turn to for help,”
Dr. Allen said. “This will be an opportunity to learn what
resources are available and who to contact for help.”
