Navajo Assistant Principal Will Step
Into
Principal Post At Pueblo
Terri Kellen, currently
assistant principal at Navajo Elementary School, will step into the principal
position at Pueblo Elementary School on July 1. The Governing Board approved
the transfer on May 7. Ms. Kellen replaces Andrea Erickson, who is resigning
to return to Mesa Public Schools as principal of Whitman Elementary School.
"It has been
an honor to be part of the Scottsdale Unified School District," Mrs.
Erickson wrote in her letter of resignation. "I have spent many hours
deliberating over leaving the Scottsdale School District. Because of the
need to be closer to my family, I have accepted a position with Mesa Public
School," she wrote. Mrs. Erickson spent the last three years in the
Scottsdale District and the previous 15 with Mesa Public Schools.
Ms. Kellen started
her career with Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) in 1993 as a
teacher at Aztec Elementary School. Prior to joining SUSD, Ms. Kellen
taught at the Cash Elementary School and at the Laveen Elementary School,
both in Laveen, Arizona.
In 1999, Ms. Kellen
was named assistant principal at Navajo Elementary School. In addition
to her assistant principalship, she also has been involved with Anytown
USA, a program that offers high school students and middle school students
opportunities to learn about prejudice, stereotyping, and cultural diversity
in a camp environment.
Ms. Kellen has
a master's degree in education administration and supervision from Arizona
State University, and a bachelor of science degree in elementary and special
education from Northern Arizona University.
Pueblo Elementary
School, located in the Saguaro Complex, houses kindergarten through sixth
grade and has more than 600 students.
