Workshop aimed at helping children find their motivation

Scottsdale Unified School District invites parents, teachers, administrators and community members to attend the Parent/Teacher Academy workshop entitled Rules for Engagement: Helping Kids Find Their Motivation at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 18, in the auditorium at Saguaro High School, 6250 N. 82nd St., Scottsdale.

Motivating children, from young children to teenagers, can be a very difficult task. This presentation focuses on ways for parents and teachers to help children discover and harness their own motivation for succeeding in whatever they do.

The presentation will be given by The Waypoint Group. The Waypoint Group provides specialized mental health, consulting, and training services to assist individuals, families, businesses and organizations in navigating change.

In addition, teachers who attend the presentation can receive Career Ladder hours or staff development points, as well as recertification credits.

Topics for future forums include talking to teens about sex, bullying and ADHD. To view the complete Parent/Teacher Academy calendar, please visit SUSD’s Web site at: www.susd.org/district/forparents/2004-2005ParentTeacherAcademyCalendar.pdf
