Scottsdale middle schools
receive $50,000 grants
Approximately 5,585 middle school students at
Scottsdale Unified School District will benefit from two grants
totaling $50,000 given to the schools by the Scottsdale Charros
and the City of Scottsdale Parks and Recreation Department.
Superintendent Dr. John M. Baracy will be presented
with two checks at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at Supai Middle
School in the Cafetorium, 6720 E. Continental, Scottsdale.
Also attending the event will be Dr. Tere Peterson,
principal at Cocopah Middle School; Marla Zimmerman, principal at
Copper Ridge Middle School; Tracey Olsen, principal at Desert Canyon
Middle School, Cindy Hans, principal at Ingleside Middle School,
Clif McKenzie, principal at Mohave Middle School; Dan Cooper, principal
at Supai Middle School; Scottsdale Mayor Mary Manross; members of
the Scottsdale Charros and the City of Scottsdale Parks and Recreation
Department.
The monies will be used to provide intramural
sports programs for the students.
Dr. Ruben Lara, the district’s Grant Administrator,
wrote the grant proposal for the Scottsdale Charros grant.
