Scottsdale schools inform
community about teenage drug use
Has your child recently developed a negative attitude
and has become less motivated toward activities, including sports
and hobbies? Does your child argue with you more than usual? Have
you noticed a change in how your child dresses? Is your child regularly
skipping class? Are your child’s grades dropping? These are
just a few of the possible warning signs that your child may be
using drugs.
Scottsdale Unified School District invites parents,
teachers, administrators and community members to attend Is
My Child Using Drugs? at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, Arcadia
High School’s auditorium, 4703 E. Indian School Road,
Phoenix.
This highly informative session will provide critical
information about drugs currently used and abused by youth. Participants
will also learn about signs and symptoms to look for in a drug user
and assess different types of drug consumption.
The program will be presented by Community Bridges.
Community Bridges' mission is to provide the highest quality clinical
treatment, community development, family preservation, prevention
and education services to assist communities to reduce crime, lower
health care costs, decrease dependence on welfare, and minimize
"revolving door" use of scarce public services by providing
a continuum of care that begins with prevention and continues for
individuals and families through treatment and recovery.
In addition, teachers who attend the presentation
can receive Career Ladder hours or staff development points, as
well as recertification credits.
Is My Child Using Drugs workshop will
be repeated at all five high schools throughout the year.
Topics for future forums include Anger Management/Conflict
