Student Constitution Essay Winners Announced
Essays focused on U.S. Constitution
Thirteen students have been selected as winners of this year’s essay writing contest in honor of the United States Constitution.
Students were asked to writing essays on this theme: “We the people; Where did we come from; Where are we going; What are our privileges; What are our rights; What are our responsibilities?”
The winning students are:
Grade 2: Max Wasserman and Lauren Aldrich, Cochise Elementary School
Grade 4: Amy Van Deinse and Celina Folch, Four Peaks Elementary School
Grade 6: Lizzy Simkins and Sara Tackett, Fountain Hills Middle School
Grade 7: Zack Levin and Eliza Collins, Ingleside Middle School
Grade 8: Teal Pine, Ingleside Middle School, and Peter Anderelli, Fountain Hills Middle School
Grade 10: Ronni Sterling and Sara Murray, Coronado High School
Grade 11: Gabriella Ziccarelli, Fountain Hills High School
Each of the winning students will receive a savings bond and have the opportunity to read their winning essay at the Scottsdale Civic Center Library Auditorium beginning at 2 p. m. on February 27, 2005. The public is encouraged to attend this celebration of the student work commemorating the United States Constitution.
The Constitution Commemoration Committee, which sponsors the annual Constitution Essay Contest, is a nonprofit, volunteer effort supported by tax-exempt contributions and membership fees - $17.87 – that commemorate the year the Constitution was adopted. The Sundt Foundation generously donated the funds for the savings bonds for this essay contest.
